How much cleaning product do I need per room?

It depends on the product type and room size. As a rough guide, all-purpose cleaner uses about 25 ml per square metre of surface area. A typical 15 m² room needs around 375 ml of all-purpose cleaner for a full wipe-down of all surfaces including floor.

Why do different products have different coverage rates?

Coverage varies because products are designed for different purposes. Floor cleaners are diluted in a bucket and spread with a mop, so they use more volume per square metre. Glass cleaners are sprayed thinly and wiped, so they use less. Bathroom cleaners need more product to deal with soap scum and limescale.

Should I use ready-to-use or concentrated products?

Concentrated products are more economical and generate less plastic waste. A 1-litre bottle of concentrate can make 20-40 litres of ready-to-use solution. However, you must dilute them correctly — this calculator shows the volume of ready-to-use solution needed.
