How the calculation works

This calculator converts between percentage concentration and parts per million (ppm) to determine the correct dilution.

Formula

Sanitiser volume = (target ppm ÷ 1,000,000) × total volume ÷ (concentration % ÷ 100)

Water volume = total volume − sanitiser volume

Common target concentrations

  • QAC: 150-400 ppm (typically 200 ppm for food surfaces)
  • Hypochlorite: 100-200 ppm for food surfaces
  • Peracetic acid: 100-200 ppm
